Emergency Preparedness

Emergency Preparedness/Family Disaster Plan

You can't stop emergencies and disasters from happening but you can take action to prepare for them. We must take action to get a jump start on preparedness in case of an emergency for our families, friends, and neighbors.

These preparedness checklists are intended to give you a format and possible suggestions about information you might want to include in a family disaster plan. It is not all-inclusive and should be modified by the user to suit individual or family needs.

Natural Disasters and Severe Weather

Natural disasters and severe weather can occur anywhere. Follow the CDC link below to become informed and prepared for such events.

CDC DISASTER AND WEATHER PREPAREDNESS

🚨 Accidentally dialed 911? Here’s what you should do: 🚨

1️⃣ Stay on the line—don’t hang up!
2️⃣ When the dispatcher answers, calmly explain that it was a mistake and there’s no emergency.
3️⃣ Answer any questions they may have to confirm everything is okay.
4️⃣ Don’t make another call unless it's an actual emergency.

Remember, emergency dispatchers take every call seriously, so it’s important to let them know you’re safe to avoid unnecessary responses.
